Me
I have been a learning facilitator for over 15 years, 10 of them working for the Polk County School Board in the state of Florida, where I reside. As a Visual Arts educator, some accomplishments are artworks been published in newspapers, calendars and exhibiting pieces of art in museums, universities, and other galleries including the Florida State Capitol Building. I take pride of what we have achieved and I am 100% ready to continue to achieve great things but this time instead of using Pedagogical strategies, using Andragogy and its principles of adult education. I genuinely like helping people and being an instructional designer is just that, about helping others achieve their goals. As part of my commitment, I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Instructional Design and Performance Technologies at the University of West Florida.
Why me?
- Communication: As a fully bilingual person (English and Spanish) I can bring cultural competency to the company and can communicate to a broader range of clients and staff, especially in diverse markets like the ones we have nowadays.
- Educational background: As an experienced educator, I have had delivered lessons for over 2,000 learners. Sometimes 40 learners at the same time, including online learning. Being exposed to that forced me to learn how to adapt quickly to the always changing curricula, to learn new technologies and to be agile in adapting to new expectations. The educational background gave me the skills to become an effective instructional designer.
- Training participant: As part of my job, I have been on the other side. I have taken numerous trainings about bullying, instructional technologies, mental health, safety, blood pathogens, learning psychology, cognitive load, and many more. Being exposed to that experience makes me totally capable to understand what it means to be a training participant and what it takes to create a learning experience that is not boring, information heavy and truly goes straight to the point.
